Rhythm Slaves - Let it Flow

About The Rhythm Slaves As a seasoned musician, Richard Gow developed his initial love for art in the sonic form at the youthful age of eight. With a father who played the trumpet in a band, it was the more classical sounds that sparked his original interest. Now, years later, he possesses innumerable experience, having evolved through the spectrum of genres, landing in his unique blend of house and jazz with an inherent dance floor feel. Born in the town of Hayes in the suburbs of London, he spent most of his childhood in England. His most significant musical influences can be traced back several decades to The Beatles, The Crusaders, Earth, Wind and Fire and Stevie Wonder, enjoying the sounds of early rock and roll, funk, jazz, soul and a fusion of other rhythmic elements. Though Richard looks toward the future, he is aware that it would not have been paved without the sounds of yesteryear. Without these artists, I do not think music would be the same today, he says. Circa 1987, Richard began formulating his personal influences on the music industry, creating his own sounds and collaborating with other respected artists. In the late nineties, he returned to his loves of both jazz and dance music and began to infiltrate the production realm under various monikers. In recent years, he has signed several original tracks and remixes to labels including EMI, Rise and Sony. In 2001, Gow began working under one of his most notable alias, The Rhythm Slaves. Soon after, his Timeslip EP was released on The Rurals renowned imprint Peng. This record attracted attention from many of the worlds top DJs, including Mark Farina, Larry Heard and Gilles Peterson. Among other vinyl EPs was the emancipation of his Easy Living Album presented by The Rhythm Slaves on Hypnotic/EMI in April of 2002. In addition to being a solo project, The Rhythm Slaves is often times a collaboration between Richard as the producer alongside a group of live musicians and vocalists. Richard describes the outcome as, Jazzy house with a floor feel to it. With a unique, upbeat sound, it did not take long to peak interest from several international labels including the Los Angeles-based Deepfunk Records, which will soon release numerous tracks from The Rhythm Slaves outfit. First in line is the labels third release, the I Can Feel It EP, boasting two tracks formulated by Richard and company in addition to a deeper, dubbed down version of the title track by the fast rising Lawnchair Generals. Currently living in Cannes, France, Richard has released lately on Real Estate Records in Chicago under the alias Soussol. With Chris Simmonds remixes and Sol with John Acqauqviva and Lego remixes The Rhythm Slaves, Let Your Love shine On On - Odds 'n Ends ECBs label with Phil Weeks and 95 North on remixes, Grab Recordings, Back In Time ep, Chocoflash The Rhythm Slaves Ep ( France ) Elevation Recordings Make It Work with freestyle man and Shawn Ward remixes. Undo Records Life Is Like with Native Newyorker remixes. On his own brand new imprint Soussol Records relases such as The Light You Will See with Trentemoller, Kid Massive & Raoul remixes and Light Up Your Life Including a Jay-j Remix and again Kid Massive & Raoul. he also released a second Rythm Slaves album "Take Your Time" to positive critical acclaim. Latest signings have been with labels such as Easy Street Records, Diaspora Recordings, Kneedeep Recordings, Zoogroove Stereo, Undo, Real Basic, Seamless, Slaag, Swing City and West End. Sharon Stone not invited to Shanghai film festival

Hi, I'm Melisse Hinkle with your UPI Entertainment Update on this Thursday, June 5, 2008. Sharon Stone continues to apologize for remarks she made about the recent earthquake in China...but it won't get her an invite to the Shanghai International Film Festival, which kicks off on June 14. That's according to the AP. The actress expressed her dissatisfaction with China's rule in Tibet during the Cannes Film Festival in May. She went on to suggest it was bad karma that brought about the earthquake in the country. A rep from the Shanghai International Film Festival says organizers for the event sent Stone a letter protesting her comments. Entertainment Tonight is taking a closer look at one of its recent stories. The celebrity news show reported last Friday that Angelina Jolie had given birth to her twins. The report was subsequently shot down by reps for Jolie and Brad Pitt, as well as other media outlets. ET issued a statement yesterday saying the show had been the victim of a hoax...and the anonymous source they attributed the information to had in fact been someone posing as Jolie's assistant. The show is reportedly working with authorities to investigate the matter. Bridget Moynahan is opening up about being a single mother. In an interview for the July issue of Harper's Bazaar, the actress reportedly said she was frightened when she first brought her son home last summer. But now she calls motherhood "the best thing in the world." She went public with the fact she was expecting just after her relationship with New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, came to a close. Moynahan tells the magazine it was her friends and family who got her through the break up and her pregnancy...a time she called "traumatic." Ed McMahon is facing some real estate troubles. The former Star Search host is reportedly up against a possible foreclosure on his Beverly Hills home, which has been on the market for two years. He's apparently $644,000 behind on mortgage loan payments. A rep for the TV personality says McMahon hasn't been able to work since he fell and broke his neck a year and a half ago. That caused him to fall behind on payments for the six-bedroom house. McMahon and his wife are reportedly in talks with their mortgage lender but it's unclear whether or not they will stay in the house. That's all according to E! News. Meanwhile, Cyndi Lauper took her "True Colors" tour to the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto last night. The tour aims to promote gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. Lauper sang at the event. The Indigo Girls and the B-52's also performed...and Rosie O'Donnell stepped out to deliver a comedy stand-up.
